a new take on trick or treating

Alright people... I don't do rain. Especially cold rain. However, when it became abundantly clear that it would be pouring on the trick or treaters around here this year, I gave Carson the choice. We could brave the rain or we could have a "Halloween party" at home. God bless that sweet boy's soul, he chose the latter. "But if we have a Halloween party, we'll need decorations," he added. Fabulous.

Relieved I would not have to venture out in the nasty weather, Matt and I plopped the kids (dressed as Ariel and a "sneaky, scary pirate") in front of a show while we got to work. The jack o'lantern was lit, hastily cut out pumpkins adorned the walls, candy was hidden in every room in the house, and Halloween music blasted through the computer speakers.

When it was all said and done, we all finished up the night with happy memories, dry clothes, and bellies full of high fructose corn syrup. Doesn't get much better.
